Avengers Shawarma Scene
Surely by now you’ve seen the Avengers Shawarma scene, right? You know, from the original Avengers film? They save New York, then Tony says they should go grab some Shawarma. Fast forward – like, literally…to the very end of the movie – to one of the sort-of-secret-but-not-really scenes way at the end of the show, and there you have it. All your favorite characters eating shawarma.
But seriously, if you haven’t watched it yet, take one minute and eight seconds of your life to watch the above clip. It’s become a classic.
Funko POP! Dioramas
Funko POP!s have appealed to casual and serious collectors alike over the years because of the cartoony design and impulse-buy pricing. The figures themselves are designed in a cute sort of way kind of like how Good Smile Company makes their Nendoroid figures (my favorite, of course, being the Zelda Nendoroid line).
In November, 2020, Funko shipped Captain America, the last figure of their first major diorama scene. It was the iconic Avengers Assemble scene where they finally unify against the Chitauri and start trashing the aliens together. It sends all the right kinds of warm fuzzies and tingles for Marvel fans who had been waiting for that moment for years as the Marvel Cinematic Universe unfolded.
Funko captured the Avengers Assemble scene in a really creative and unique way. Six Funko POP!s that all link together to form a major diorama set where each figure hooks together at the base. Check it out:
The Avengers Shawarma scene looks like it follows a similar style. The first of the figures Funko released for the Avengers Shawarma diorama set is Bruce Banner (available for pre-order here). As you can see, the base looks like it’s designed to connect to the other characters from the Avengers Shawarma scene:
Thanos-style Balance
What I love about the Avengers Shawarma Scene is is brings balance to the Avengers Assemble scene. It’s sort of the yin and the yang of the ending of the original Avengers movie because of how relaxed the scene makes you feel. It’s almost like the big sigh at the end of the movie because all of the action is finally over. Funko captured both scenes really well and I appreciate their efforts to remain true to the original films. Way to go, Funko.
Bruce Banner, the first of the Avengers Shawarma Diorama set figures, ships February 15, 2021.
